We’re in Trouble

There’s something seriously wrong with a country that is so divided, that their only goal is the eye on the prize. I have a real problem with these ignorant, ill-informed and disrespectful so called men, no doubt with an IQ equivalent to a squirrel. Actually, I apologize for that last comment. That was out of line. Rodents are, in fact quite intelligent.

Obama IS the President. That means Commander-in-Chief, head of our nation. So when 911 happened, Bush got respect and the nation pulled together in that time of crisis. I don’t think we heard one word about politics or which side of the aisle a politician was from. This should be no different, but it is.

What the hell is the problem? Shouldn’t a President survey the areas he’s about to release emergency funds to in a crisis ? Shouldn’t he see this first hand ? Or maybe we should wait a few weeks like the administration at that time did, when Hurricane Katrina hit. That sure helped the moral of the people and gave them comfort. And if that Governor or Mayor happens to be on the other team, who cares ? Really ? Because I’m sure they don’t.

I guess Rush, something he got often with drugs and apparently food, does. All he cares about is stirring up the masses. It’s good for ratings. But.. when people have been through the train wreck of devastation, lost their homes, their belongings, personal and sentimental items, you put this crap aside. I don’t care what your politics are. And there’s a columnist named Matt from some obscure site or blog, who ranted about the same thing.

People are without power. Elderly are stuck in high rises running out of food, water and medication. No one can get gas for generators. People have died. Children were swept out of the arms of their mother. Their bodies found today. Two and four years old. Do you think these people give a shit about a Democrat and Republican ? They care about getting basic needs addressed. They care about surviving the trauma and loss that has just swept through their neighborhoods, their homes, their lives.

The water is unsafe to drink. Raw sewage, along with oil and other toxins still sit in pools of water on streets. A water pipe burst in Manhattan. Almost timed, as the last inches of old water were being pumped out. Open gas lines hiss and its smell permeates the air. Cars float, trees line streets, but this time they have been uprooted and lie across the middle of roads, blocking them. No way out.

Mayor Booker in Newark, was shown delivering diapers and apple juice to mothers in the dark. As if Newark didn’t have enough problems. We watch people being interviewed sob, still in shock, wondering how they will start over. Do you think any one of them cares which party is delivering necessities ? Get over it, you hate mongers. Put your differences aside. You can pick up where you left off. Later. What ever happened to respect and compassion ? How do you think this serves the American people ? Do you think you’re helping ?

This sort of one sided attitude infuriates me. It’s insensitive and self-centered. The reason we vote someone in to office to begin with, is to move us forward. An elected official should benefit the people who voted them in. If not, they have no business being in office. If all you care about is your party, not the people and you represent the type of person they are, then America needs a big wake-up call.

Go out and volunteer. Help someone other than yourself. Maybe it will enlighten you some. Cheer on the people who are in total turmoil and despair. Offer them comfort and hope. This has nothing to do with what side of the aisle you’re on. It has everything to do with getting them the help they need and as soon as possible.

These communities have been devastated. So shut up about politics. Or go live on an island. At least till this is over. Just get a life. Or do something with it. Make a difference.
